Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) remain among the top agenda of Takaful companies today. It is expected to see more active M&A activities in the next few years, attributable to the current rapid growth in the sector as well as recent new regulatory framework particularly the Islamic Financial Services Act (IFSA) 2013. Whilst, M&As would lead to a stronger capital base and competencies of the new entities besides lowering the operational cost, there have been several failures recorded in the past.

D'Takaful SIFU stands for Distinguished Takaful Senior Industry Faculty. IBFIM has outlined a series of engagement with the SIFUs in what we believe focal to the development of Takaful industry locally and globally. The session will be conducted by knowledgeable talent who holds invaluable experience and knowledge that need to be tapped to enrich that body of knowledge in Takaful.

Our SIFU will thoughtfully discuss the M&A trends in the global as well as domestic Takaful market, the regulatory changes in Takaful sector, the strategic drivers, M&A activity and its key success factors. It will also examine the role of actuary in M&A, the technical aspects of M&A i.e. the valuation methodologies and its processes, the preparation of actuarial report and latest view on challenges in the M&A for Takaful sector moving forward.
